Performers’ Roster December 16, 2011: Got to have been 75 of us cuddling up in the cozy Gretzky room; 21 performer sets (and a lot of holiday-themed songs). The pesky 'sound issues' from the last club seem to have been tamed. Had a whole long table outside the room that was filled with potluck snackers and treats - friends, you outdid yourselves. For part of the evening, Dave Jensen got renamed to Dave Jenkins - we had some fun with that.
Just a wonderful evening, and a great finish to this calendar year.

___break___ and behold! herewith a mighty noshing doth commence - cookies, tarts, cheese stuff (the cream cheese with red pepper jelly was a particular hit), mini eclairs, shrimp, kielbasa, spinach-&-feta-phyllo-wraps, veggie trays, fruits & more. Damn! it was good!
*** Elizabeth Jacobs - Rainbow Connection (Paul Williams & Kenneth Ascher); Holly Jolly Christmas (Johnny Marks). (Don't usually comment on performances here, but a special note - this was 12-year-old Elizabeth's first stage performance in which she sang as well as played keyboard. Good voice and an utterly charming combination of nervousness and confidence. We do hope she'll return.)
Barb Bloemhof - John Riley; I Can't Touch the Sun (Shel Silverstein)

our finale song, completely out of sequence - our long-time fan and supporter Christopher Szwarc made a rare appearance. One thing Christopher had always enjoyed was joining in the chorus on our closing song - Wild Mountain Thyme. Since it wasn't possible for Christopher to stay to the end, we moved it up a bit. Verses by Dave, Jeremiah, Dave again (logistics, ver' crowded stage) & Diane. And Christopher, of course, singing lustily on the choruses!
Rosemarie Stewart - Blue Christmas; I Wonder as I Wander
Jericho (Eric & Jeremiah) - It's Getting Cold (Shawn Brush); Santa Claus is What?! (original by Jeremiah & Wendell Ferguson)
Denise Jolicoeur w/ Michael Hogg - Nothing But a Child (Steve Earle)

and so a fine evening ended, with Dave staying on stage with his accordion playing a few more Christmas things to usher us out into the night.
From all of us at BOS, our thanks to all, a fine Christmas (or holiday season) and a New Year filled with promise!
Sunday, December 4 at 8pm. The Brantford Open Stage is sponsoring a Christmas concert, with a twist. We are very happy to announce that 6 time CCMA Guitarist of the Year winner Wendell Ferguson will be in concert on Sunday, December 4 at 8 o'clock in the evening at the Best Western / Brant Park Inn (Hwy 403 / Wayne Gretzky interchange).
In addition to his considerable guitar skills, Wendell is also just about the funniest, wickedest songwriter in existence.
This will not be your conventional 'warm and fuzzy' Christmas presentation; rather is will be the perfect counterbalance.
Come prepared to laugh!
Tickets are $15 advance, $18 at the door.
Advance tickets can be purchased at the Brantford Open Stage Session prior to the concert (Nov 18)
or from Dave Jensen, Eric Bower or Jeremiah.
Weekdays, tickets may be obtained at the Station Coffee House & Gallery in Brantford,
located at the VIA station (west end) where West and Market Streets meet. 519-309-0008

Performers’ Roster November 26, 2010: Wow! What a night! Some 80 of us, packed into the somewhat smaller "Gretzky Room". 21 performer sets. First night with the new wireless setup - 3 mics and 3 instrumental DI packs. What a revelation - the stage seemed so roomy and uncluttered. We are liking these things. Also, gave a road test to 2 new mains speakers - powered units from QSC - 1000 watts and they weigh about 25 pounds each. Excellent sound. Ver' happy with the results.
The intention had been to open the evening with a tribute to our recently-deceased musical friend Bernie Moffatt, but the iPod we had a recording of him died. As it happened, we got it functional again before the break and we started the 2nd half with a recording of 2 Bernie songs that were from his very first appearance at BOS back in September of 2006 (was it really only that long we were privileged to know him?).
All-in-all it was a very fine night.

'Bout 19 performer sets, and we were experimenting with a couple of cordless mics. The Line 6 units seem to be superb - the vocal mic seems to be very forgiving and had superb sound. The instrument pick-up had exceptional clarity as well.

I was able to talk him into coming down to visit us; may be the best thing I've ever done for the club - he gave us an absolutely stellar opening set. Now if I can just convince him to do one of the Sunday afternoon concerts at the Station Coffee House & Gallery here in Brantford . . . )

Ancaster Fair Audio Showcase September 23, 2010: Not precisely a BOS event, but worthy of note, methinks. The folks at the fair decided to try an experiment; opening the weekend-long fair with a preview evening. They had two entertainment events scheduled - one was an "Ancaster's Got Talent" contest, and the other a music showcase. BOS soundman Eric Bower organized the showcase part of the evening drawing on performers from BOS, the Hamilton Folk Club and the Hamilton Guitar Association. The performers that appeared were:
Bo Basiuk
Russ Burns
Jericho
Bob Baker
Diane Kennedy
Steve Fuller
Andrew Ong
Ed Vandendool (w/ Jo Vandendool)
Shawn Trotter
John & Sheila Ludgate
Echoes
Eclecticeltic
Tim McDougald
Dave Jensen
and a finale of Wild Mountain Thyme
Everybody had a 15-minute window, that including setting up & getting off. Everyone was so good about observing that that at about the half-way point, when Dave Jensen (MC-ing for the evening) realized we were actually running 5 minutes ahead of schedule, he almost fell apart - he'd never ever had to deal with that situation before! (I admit, watching this was my favourite part of the night.)
There'd been a threat of rain, so not so many people visiting the fair this first night, but performances were uniformly excellent, and the audience that did attend seemed quite happy with the presentation.

Concert June 11, 2010: "The End of the Road with John Prince"
8:00 o'clock (doors open at 7:30) $15. Opening act for the evening: Ginger St James
Briefly, a superb night. A full room (140 or more).
A sweet laid-back set from the wonderful Ms Ginger (truth-to-tell, a few found some of her material a touch provocative, though I'd consider that a recommendation!)
John and the boys delivered a high energy set, with amazing musicianship and thunderous harmonies. In short (and forgive me my biased enthusiasm) one of the best concert evenings I've ever attended.

Performers’ Roster May 14, 2010:
Wow, what a different evening this was. As announced, we were somewhere else: Brantford's Station Coffee House and Gallery, as the hotel was booked up with a convention. The Station is a lovely wee place with good coffee (natch!) and very decent desserts. And cozy. Did I mention cozy? I do believe we had about 70 folks that showed up, including some newbies and and a couple of too-long-absent friends. And ended up with around 20 performer sets! Performers’ Roster April 30, 2010:
Finally, no karaoke in the restaurant next door, and we were back in our 'home room'. Eric was back on sound, so all was right with the world!

Stewart McPhail, Larry Aul , Katie Korfmann - Angus Campbell (Cape Breton tune); Liberty; Arkansas Traveler
sidenote: "Liberty" is a very popular tune among fiddle players. This was originally a Quebecois tune called "Reel de 'Ti Jean" which became popular in England under its translated name "Little John's Reel". The tune then crossed back over the Atlantic to the US where it was dubbed "The Liberty Two-Step", shortened to just "Liberty". Ironic, I think that very few Canadian fiddlers know about its origin. Friday, January 29, 2010 - special to support the Haitian disaster relief effort
Dave Jensen is organizing this concert. It is confirmed for next Friday, January 29 at the Best Western / Brant Park Inn (who have generously donated the use of the Grand Ballroom & the services of a bartender for the evening). Starting time will be 7:30 and and admission will be $15. Confirmed to perform so far are Donald McGeoch, Mark McNeil , Terry Sumsion and David & Louise Szwarc. Both this website and my own calendar will be updated as info becomes available, and I'll send out a general notice early next week with the latest news. Your support and help is crucial and will be most appreciated.
The Performers:
Donald McGeoch - a fine performer of tradition Scottish and Irish folk music; as well as his own original material, both soulful and wickedly funny. Don has two CDs to his credit (tracks have often been heard on CBC Radio).
Terry Sumsion - a very late, but most welcome addition to the evening's roster. Country star Terry Sumsion is the writer of "Midnight Invitation", "Loving Place" and "Highway of Heroes".
Mark McNeil - is a singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who has been active in the Hamilton area music scene for more than two decades. He performs solo and with bands, most recently with The Lowest Lanes who were featured at the Festival of Friends in Hamilton this year and in 2008. Mark's third solo album, called 'Greetings from Hamilton', an EP of six original songs, was released in August and was a nominee for a Hamilton Music Award.
David & Louise Szwarc were regular performers and supporters of the Brantford Folk Club, before it morphed into the Brantford Open Stage. David looked after the sound system. Both were welcome performers as well, with Louise doing most of the vocals and David playing beautifully intricate 'fingerstyle' guitar. Their chosen material would fall mostly into what might be described as 'contemporary folk'. We are thrilled to have them back with us for this event.
Cyndi Devereux & Donal Sweeney w/ Dave Jensen & Jeremiah contribute some fiddle work and fine madness to the evening
after the fact - it was a wonderful evening, especially for being thrown together in about a week. Thanks to the Best Western / Brant Park Inn (who generously donated the use of the Grand Ballroom & the services of a bartender for the evening), and all those who donated raffle prizes. All together we raised just over $4,000, which with matching funds mean over $8,000 going toward the relief effort.
Brantnews.com was at the event and produced this video.

A slight difference; we were in the Grand
Ballroom tonight. How very posh! Sixty-some souls in attendance, and
about 18 performers.
This session was dedicated to Larry Martin, a past regular of the
Brantford Folk Club, and the Caledonia Folk Club, who passed away from
cancer just a couple of short weeks back. Larry, a very funny solo
performer, often partnered with his brother, Bob Martin to devastatingly funny
effect. His sense of fun and outrageous sense of humour will be missed.
Here's the roster, courtesy of Rosemarie Stewart:

Dianne Kennedy - Fashioned in the Clay (written by Ed Beal; recordedby
Susan Trump), The Silence of Parting (Bob Frankie), Ridin' Down the
Highway (Bruce Allen)
Dave Pearson
Anne Moffat - Lord Blow the Moon Out Please (an a capella treatment),
Here Comes That Rainbow Again (Kris Kristophersen) w/ Larry Aul on
mandolin.
Stuart McPhail with Larry Aul - 2 frailing banjo instrumentals: June
Apple and The Cuckoo
Wayne Hosick - White Rose (Fred Eaglesmith), A Cubs Fan's Dying Wish
Danny Bazenko - Time to Put the Cards on the Table, Two Steps (both
Danny originals)
Al Lindsay - tin whistle medley (Killiekrankie/Scots Wha Hae), The
Chastity Belt Song

Breeze (both original instrumentals)

illness)
Sarah Hillis

and bodhran: George Baranza/King of Faeries, and Rakes of Kildaire/ The
Gobio; after which Luanne snuck a short slow air into the set

- a most excellent evening, somewhere about
19 performers in various combination and permutations, and I'd say about
50 or so in the audience. One neat thing that transpired was that in the
hall next to us was some sort of fishermen gathering. By the time we got
to our break, they were pretty much all done and the subs (from the
Woodstock Subway) that were left over were donated to us - enough for
everybody! Manymuchthankyous to the Woodstock Subway people (had to make
sure I mentioned them twice).

BOS
Performers’ Roster April 3, 2009
What an amazing evening! What started out
as a big schmozzle turned out to be a thoroughly enjoyable evening for
all those who were able to cope with a major last minute change.
When we arrived at the hotel for setup, we discovered that there been a
bigtime misunderstanding in out usual arrangement - not only were we not
scheduled, but there was no way to accomodate us because a major
conference had taken over every possible suitable room.
A short flurry of phone calls on Dave's part resulted in an offer from
our friend and regular performer Bob Baker to throw his home open to us
for the evening. Now Bob has a home with a large basement and has hosted
a couple of house concerts in the past.
Signs were put up in the hotel and the front desk staff agreed to
redirect folks to Bob's place. I managed to get a last minute (less than
2 hour's notice!) email out to our mailing list, and still not certain
it got out to the whole list. Some phone calls to those whose number we
had, as well as a text message to some, got the word out to more folk.
When Bart & Chris, our usual setup crew, arrived at the hotel and
learned of the change, they were not in the least fazed. The sound gear
was quickly loaded into their van and off to Bob's.
What completely blew us away was that so many of you wonderful folks put
up with the confusion and found your way to us. I particularly enjoyed
the person who showed up at Bob's door apologizing for not knowing the
'secret folkie password'. One of our regulars, Jack Mitchell took it
upon himself to bop back to the hotel and guide some 6 car-loads to
Bob's (We got us a convoy!) All in all, we ended up with close to 50
people down there (including a few first-timers - what an excellent
introduction to the 'folk community'), about 14 performer-sets and just
a beautiful, beautiful evening.
Sorry we don't have a performer roster to share with you this time
around. We were blessed with the presence of 3 superb fiddle players
this evening - Cyndi 'Fiddler Cyn' Devereux, Katie Korfman and
Kevin Quinn. Also a first time performer at BOS, a young woman, Hali
Gale, who writes her own material and

To those of you who weren't able to make the change, we apologize most
sincerely. To those of you who did, we thank you from the bottoms of our
hearts. And an extra special thanks to Bob Baker, host extraordinaire!
BOS
Performers’ Roster March 20, 2009
We were once again blessed with a full
house; 80 or more in the audience and some 23 performer sets. Went a tad
longer than we like, but we managed to get everybody their full 2-song
set. We were in the slightly smaller "Jay Silverheels Room", but it was
nice and cozy and we didn't have to endure any sound bleed-over from the
monthly karaoke in the hotel bar.
There was a wide variety of instrumentation including guitars, electric
bass, keyboard, djembe (African drum), bodhran (Celtic drum), banjo
(5-string, both bluegrass & clawhammer styles), steel guitar
(resonator), fiddle, Celtic harp and harmonica.
And the evening's roster was (*** indicates a first-time performer at BOS):
_
Brian and Sharon Crozier w/ Irene (sorry, didn't get last name) -
The Galway Shawl; The Contender (Timmy McCarthy from Cork); Goodbye John-Jo
Ann Moffat - Sweet and Low (original); Ponies (John Bullock)
***Gary Bridgette & John Dorlas (part of the bluegrass group "Grass
Tax") - In a Perfect World I Wouldn't Sing the Blues; Whoa Mule, Whoa

*important side note: The May 1st session of BOS is going to be a
concert evening featuring Donald.
***John Cameron - If I Needed You (Townes Van Zandt); Cripple Creek
(Buffy Ste Marie's version)
_
Kevin Quinn - The Reason I Left Mullingar; fiddle medley: Isle of the
Woods (Liz Carol tune), Whiskey Before Breakfast, Swallowtail -
encores usually don't happen considering the number of performers, but
Kevin's fiddle-playing was so wizard that it had to happen, so the first
half ended with Kevin doing Cherish the Ladies, melding into a double-jig.

Performers’ Roster March 6, 2009
There was a pretty much full house for this
session - got to have been 80 people or more, with about 20 performer
sets. It was lovely to see some of our friends from the
Kitchener/Waterloo/Cambridge area who don't get down our way too often;
descended on us like a horde of Visigoths they did!
It was doubly wonderful to have Eric Bower back on sound, which got Dave
back to his proper MC job, and me back to being lazily self-indulgent
and mostly just enjoy things.
Here's the roster for the evening (*** indicates a first-time performer
at BOS):
_
Jeremiah & Eric Bower, w/ Larry Aul joining on mandolin on the 2nd
& 3rd song (evening opener gets 3 songs): Hallelujah (Leonard Cohen),

Friends of Mine (Ian Tyson)
_

Stewart McPhail - (banjo) Larry Aul (mandolin) - Quicksand, The
Falls of Richmond

twister adapted in 1921 by the Aussies; full line is : "A noise annoys
an oyster but a noisy noise annoys an oyster more")
_
Russ Burns - Oliphant Bay, Hollow Bottle (both original instrumental
pieces by Russ)
Sarah Hillis
Pat McLeod & Cam Kemp w/ Jeremiah - The Green Rolling Hills of
West Virginia, Blue Ridge Mountain Blues

Al Lindsay - Galway Bay (parody)
Bob Baker w/ Dave Jensen & Jeremiah_ - When You and I Were Young

decided to put their sets together, with Antonio providing backup for
Rosemarie - Never On Sunday, accordian medley (based around Blue Spanish
Eyes), Que Sera Sera, and a classical accordian piece
(it's been a real treat having Antonio last session and this, but he's
on his way back to Italy and we all wish him a safe journey)
Allan Edgar w/ Dave Jensen & Jeremiah - Pistol Packin' Mama, I
Overlooked an Orchid
finale: Wild Mountain Thyme with verses by Dave Jensen, Sarah Hillis
BOS
Performers’ Roster February 20, 2009
- a fairly relaxed evening, with about 45
people in the audience and 14 performer sets. There was a tiny bit of
'sound bleed' from the bar (they were doing some karaoke) and the grand
ballroom had a Brantford Collegiate semi-formal dance (complete with
sub-woofers!).
Dave Jensen handled the sound board with myself
(Jeremiah) pretending to be an emcee.
Here's the roster for the evening (*** indicates a first-time performer
at BOS):
_
Doug Maxwell and Jim Miller - The Wonder of You, Take Me Out to the
Ballgame, Five-Foot-Two
_

_
Allan Edgar (harmonica), (w/ Dave Jensen & Jeremiah) - Go and
Leave Me if You Want To, May You Never Be Alone Like Me
***Antonio Silvestri - an unexpected pleasure; over from Italy &
attending the karaoke in the bar (phooey!) with friends, when he
realized there was our event happening, managed to rustle up a piano
occordian and entertained us with some old world tunes (only one I
recognized was "That's Amore". Guess nobody told him about the 2-song
limit, and he squeezed in 4 tunes but it was a relaxed evening, and
Dave Jensen couldn't resist - he grabbed his button accordian and after
a wee bit of cross-culture accomodation we had an accordian duet going.
finale; Dave Jensen and Friends - Sail Away (a John Prince song); Wild
Mountain Thyme (with verses by Dave, Diane Kennedy, Al Lindsay &
Sarah Hillis
Thus ended the official evening, but there was a bit of an aftermath
with Antonio and Dave jamming for a bit. Good heavens - there was even
dancing going on!
BOS
Performers’ Roster February 20, 2009
*The excellent news is that Dave Jensen
is back, and feeling generally pretty good. The room was near to full
(don't have a full count, but it has to have been at least 80 people,
and some 24 sets of performers (a record, I do believe) with about 4
more who graciously demurred due to the length of the evening. Thank
heavens for that 8 o'clock start time! Dave was manning the sound board,
which left me (Jeremiah) doing the emcee schtick.
Here's the roster for the evening (*** indicates a first-time performer

- Quite the night, even 'though we were
without our fearless captain! Dave Jensen was off sick (out of the
hospital now and feeling better, I'm happy to report). Ed Vandendool and
his son Jo took it upon themselves to man the sound station duties, even
to the extent of toting in their own full system and setting it up. Don
McGeoch was kind enough to volunteer to emcee the first half of the
evening (& a welcome 'blast from the past' that was!
The house was full (fortunately we were in our usual larger room) and we
had some 20 performers.

Performers’ Roster January 9, 2009
Judging by just the one example so far,
the new start time of 8 o'clock has been a resounding success. We
actually got started by 8:05; lotsa people made it in time; we were
finished ver' shortly after 11 o'clock and as a result much more of our
audience was able to enjoy the performers right up to the end. Some 17
performers/groups in all and the slightly smaller Gretzky Room where we
were was full to the brim. 'Twas a great way to start this new year!

Performers ’ Roster December 12, 2008
- Our Christmas session! And quite
the evening it was! A bumper crop of about 75 people cozied up in the
smaller 'Wayne Gretzky Room' with about 18 performer/groups. Soundboard
duties were shared by James Richards and Eric Bower, who'd subbed out
his regular bass-playing job so he wouldn't miss the Christmas club.
Particular thanks are hereby offered to all who brought along potluck
snacks to share. The spread was wonderful - cookies, shortbreads, tarts,
cakes (the Drambuie-laced fruitcake had a short but glorious life),
fruit, shrimp, etc. Good thing Dave saw fit to grab an additional room
next to us to manage it all!
Still more gratitude to those who showed up with donations for the
Brantford Food Bank. There was a goodly haul to send over to them.
There was even more variety than usual in the instruments presented: the
usual plethora of guitars and electric basses (of course), but also
fiddle, ukelele, banjo, mandolin, flure, bodhran, guitar-zither and
harmonicas.
The roster for the evening (*** indicates a first-time performer at BOS):

headaches and such, but were still there to support their fellow

Mr. Jensen had to look after the sound board this night (and did a very
creditable job), with myself tagged to do emcee duties ("Hi. My name is

someplace similarly northish). It's been several years, and it's good to
see him back.
Aack! I didn't get the name of this performer (sorry), but she had
her friend Stephanie throwing out prizes to the crowd!
Ed Vandendool, and Andrea
Barstad (Andrea is a very fine fiddler, & has played with the groups

Bob Baker w/ Dave Jensen, Jeremiah, Mike Hogg, Allan Edgar &

The Overplayers (Danny Bazenko, James Richards & Matt Bazenko) from
Hamilton led off with the traditional opening set of 3 songs. They also
have a full concert coming up at the Waterford Old Town Hall on October 4.
Steve Fuller was a very pleasant surprise. He's usually in sufficient
demand as one of Ontario's finest fiddlers, and being able to get out on
a Friday night is a rare thing indeed. Of course he got hauled up for

It is with considerable regret that we announce that Eric Bower will
no longer be doing sound on a regular basis. In addition to sound duties
Eric is also a bassist and now has a regular Hamilton gig on Friday
nights. Eric's been doing sound for us since the Brantford Open Stage
began and he will be missed. We're hoping he'll at least be able to

night and he's back with us again.

Dave Clarke is well-known in folk music circles as a member of the
'folkgrass' trio 'Steel Rail' and as a long-time guitarist & arranger
for Juno winner David Francey. His website is: http://www.daveclarke.ca/ and Rosemary Phelan's is http://www.rosemaryphelan.net or
http://www.myspace.com/rosemaryphelan
Dave has also made a few unannounced appearances at BOS and the
Brantford Folk Club and it'll be a real treat to have this wizard
guitarist stretch out a bit.
I should mention that the reason Dave is in the area and available is to
attend the wedding of our friends Allison Lupton and Geoff Somers. Best
wishes to them from all of us at the Brantford Open Stage.

June 23, 2006 This is indeed the final session before the summer break and all them
amazing festivals.
We have a special treat to kick off this session, as well.
Cindy Dell is bringing along her bluegrass group, "Otter Creek".
This is a 6-person group and we're going to have them open the evening
with a 4-song mini-feature. Now, I haven't heard the group myself, but
I've been a fan of Cindy's music for a number of years,
her other group "Blue Rubies" kicks royal butt and being acquainted
with some other members of Otter Creek,
I'm predicting this is one session you'll not want to be fashionably
late for!
Remember, they start right at 8:30.
_____
after the fact: Otter Creek gave us a superb set. A very recent
development (September/06) are websites for Cindy and the band:
Cindy's site is http://www.myspace.com/cindydell Cindy's other group (Blue Rubies) site is http://www.myspace.com/bluerubies and, of course, Otter Creek's site is
http://www.myspace.com/ottercreekbluegrass
March 17, 2006 Special Fund Raising Concert
celebrating St. Patrick's Day
and featuring:
Sarah Hillis (Brantford Blind Idol)
Allison Lupton
'Fiddler Cyn'
and Don Sweeney
David & Louise Szwarc
Tom Jordan & Celtic Friends
8:30 pm, at the usual place
all this, and more, for a mere, pitiful $5!
_____
after the fact: The St Patrick's Day Concert, was an outstanding
success. Ever the optimist, Dave had set out 113 chairs to start with,
and had to hustle up another 30 before we could start.
Young Sarah gave us an excellent set to start with, her soprano voice
and harp lending itself well to traditional Celtic fare such as "She
Moved Through the Fair", "The Blacksmith" and "Paddy's Lamentation".
David & Louise Swarc managed to skew their repertoire into an Irish
theme (with broad parameters) with such contributions as "Red is the
Rose", "It's a Whiskey Evening" and "When Irish Girls Grow Up". The
usual 'Szwarcian' elements were all present: Lousie' lovely voice,
David's sublime fingerstyle guitar work, David's quietly-presented
outrageous jokes and Louise' long-suffering forbearance of same.
One unannounced addition to the evening was the addition of Dave Clarke
to Allison Lupton's set with Geoff Somers. Dave is an amazing guitarist,
part of the 'folkgrass' group Steel Rail, and helped shape Juno-winner
David Francey's sound for 6 years. Together the three of them just
smoked the place!
And of course, there was Tom Jordan. In concert, Tom is a glorious
lunatic. Irish to the depth of his soul, he is. With his stock of
time-honoured jokes, superbly delivered, he held the audience in the
palm of his hand. When he turned his voice to the classic Irish
repertoire - laughter and tears often hand-in-hand.
All in all, a very successful evening. A sold-out room, funds raised for
equipment, and fine time had by all. Thanks to all who participated, and
all of you who came out to support the evening.
